NeoGuides / Listen Archive: Autumn '08 / Pei-Jee and Pei-Sian Ng

This edition of NeoGuide Listen features another young musical act who might be relegated to the gimmick category if they weren't so gifted, Pei-Jee and Pei-Sian Ng, also known as the "twin cellists".

The 24-year-old Adelaide-born brothers had each successfully carved out the beginnings of very significant careers on the international classical scene before they ever played together publicly. That joint venture brought the Ngs temporarily back to Australia from the UK, where they are now based.

Their 2007 tour was a hit, as was the new work called Phoenix Story by Elena Kats-Chernin, which they premiered. They will play twice more in Australia this year (in their home town in July and August) in between UK tour dates.

They are now finishing an album of the same name, which will be their recording debut. To listen to seven exquisitely beautiful selections of them playing together and singly, with various orchestras, click here.
