The upmarket British newspaper The Telegraph got a diverse response from the readers' poll which determined its list of the top 100 … but even so, the number one choice got four times as many votes as any other. New electric car has Segway scooters included
General Motors has released details of its Flextreme electric-diesel concept car (Opel Flextreme in Europe, Saturn Flextreme in the US, with the rest of the world to follow). The eye-catching car, with its batwing doors, comes complete with two Segway scooters, cleverly tucked into a rear compartment, that recharge while the car itself is recharging via an ordinary household electric outlet. Chinese car manufacturers eye the global market
Chanfeng Motor's handout material at the 2008 North American International Auto Show was far from slick, but only the foolish would dismiss the seriousness of the company's intention to break into the US and other global markets. Mercedes teaches drivers to cut back on the juice
Mercedes-Benz is to introduce a feature which displays to drivers their fuel usage as it is happening and suggests the optimum gear to use at any given moment for fuel-efficient driving. "Internally, we call it our built-in fuel efficiency trainer," says Thomas Weber from the company's R&D division. It will go first into the new diesel models, then in all new models across the range.
