It's the Coombend oil that's worth stopping for on your way up or down the East Coast.
The wine is fine, estate-grown and managed through the Tamar Ridge group, and the convivial little cellar door in a renovated shed is usually busy with tasters. But this close to Blue Edge Bakery at Bicheno, what you really need is a silky golden oil to dip that fine bread into.
It's grown on the estate on the balmy sea plains (they get more days of sunshine annually here than Sydney, don't you know). The fruity tang that goes oh so well with a crusty sourdough. Pick up a conveniently sized half-bottle for Self and a couple as presents.
