If you're in a mainland frame of mind you might find the name a bit naff. Don't be too quick to judge: the existence of places like this is one of the reasons you'll fall in love with Tasmania.
Imagine a perfect half-moon bay with steep hills protecting it from most of the 'lively' weather that travels in from Bass Strait. Add a wide white beach with firm sand at low tide that makes a long walk off to the rock pools at either end irresistible.
Now add one little cafe, right on the beachfront, right in the middle. All by itself at the end of the road. Put a good cook inside the cafe, doing fresh, simple basics like a hearty breakfast, fish and chips (mandatory in this setting), a lamb burger with garlicky yoghurt sauce or a great plate of scones, jam and cream.
Add a summer sunset, a crisp cold beer or a white wine: sheer heaven.
